Tina Knowles finds striking similarities between her grandchild, Blue Ivy, and her daughter, Beyoncé.
Knowles received a Gracie Award for her audiobook, Matriarchat an event in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday, May 19.
At the event, PEOPLE magazine interviewed the 72-year-old American businesswoman and fashion designer, who reflected on Ivy’s similarities to her mother, Beyoncé, as a teenager.
Reminiscent of Ivy’s recent Met Gala debut, Knowles got emotional, saying, “She takes after her mother because she’s a huge talent. And because she’s very poised.”
“I mean, the Met Gala, I couldn’t do it. And so I thought, look how ready she is on the red carpet and how she knows exactly what she wants. Yeah, it made me very proud,” the grandmother admitted.
For those who don’t know, Ivy made her Met Gala debut on May 4, 2026 at the age of 14. Her mother, Beyoncé, was the same age when she joined Girl’s Tyme, a Texas girl group that has become Destiny’s Child.
It is pertinent to mention that Ivy Blue attended the 2026 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with both her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, wearing a white strapless Balenciaga dress and paired it with an unzipped jacket with silver Jimmy Choo stilettos. She completed her look with sunglasses.
