Tyler Perry reveals why he flew from Italy to the US for surgery in pain

Tyler Perry reveals why he regretted going to the hospital in Italy.

Perry appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show and recalled going to a hospital in the picturesque country while filming the third episode of his Why did I get married? film series, titled Why did I get married again?

The filmmaker had gone cycling and fell, breaking his shoulder bone.

“I went cycling on Elba and flipped the handlebars, broke my collarbone and had to have surgery,” Perry recalls. “It was terrible.”

When the host asked if he had surgery there, Perry replied, “Worst mistake of my life. If you’re ever in Italy – God, I love my Italian people, but don’t go to the hospital there.”

He explained how an employee tried to put on a collarbone brace to stabilize his injury without giving him pain medication.

“This guy looks at me and says, ‘I can fix it. I can fix it,'” Perry recalled. “And he puts the belt around me, pulls… I screamed so loud, man, I think I woke up everyone in the whole country. It was terrible.’

“I didn’t know it was broken and it separated in two places and he tried to contract it with no painkillers. Nothing! So I got drunk as hell, got on a plane and came back to America and had surgery.”
