Victoria Beckham is opening up about the ‘hardest part’ of parenting amid rumors of family tensions mainly involving her eldest, Brooklyn.
The singer and fashion designer appeared on the October 22 episode of the Call her daddy podcast, in which she looked back on her Spice Girl days, talked about her new untitled Netflix documentary, her football star husband David Beckham and their four children.
At one point, host Alex Cooper asked Victoria, “As a mother, I’m sure you’re always worried about your kids. What’s the hardest thing about stepping back and letting them make their own decisions.”
“Communication is key,” replied Victoria, 51. “And we always let them know that anything they want to talk about, this is a safe forum. That’s very important. They have to go on the journey themselves.”
Victoria emphasized that she and David have “such a close family,” including children Brooklyn, 36, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14. Without naming any of them, she called her children “all really good, sweet, kind people.”
Her telling comments come amid ongoing rumors of tension following her son Brooklyn’s 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz. Reports of a rift between Nicola and Victoria continue, and things seemed to get worse when Brooklyn and Nicola skipped David’s 50th birthday party earlier this year.
It is said that “a huge rift still exists” between Brooklyn, his parents and his brothers American weekly.
A source told the outlet that Brooklyn currently has “no interest” in reconciling, leaving his parents “heartbroken” to see the family divided during major events like the release of Victoria’s Netflix documentary.
As for Brooklyn, he dismissed the speculation and told the Daily mail last month: “Everyone’s always talking shit. I’m just trying to do this, play golf with some friends. It’s a lot of fun.”
