Taylor Swift’s album The life of a showgirl was released on October 3, and many musicians have rescheduled their releases to avoid competing with the pop star who rules the streaming charts almost after every album release.
However, Victoria Justice wasn’t one of those artists when she released her new single, Love Zombieon the same day as the pop superstar’s twelfth studio album.
This wasn’t the only time Justice’s release date coincided with the Grammy winners, but fans noted that this has happened three times already.
The Nickelodeon alum spoke out about the clash of release dates in a recent interview with Proudand told fans it was a complete coincidence.
“I swear to everyone, every Taylor Swift fan, this is not intentional!” Justice laughed.
The Victorious star continued, “It’s actually kind of funny. I’ve released music on the same day as Taylor three times now, and each time I didn’t realize it until afterwards. I promise there’s no secret rivalry here, it’s just the universe laughing at my expense.”
The 32-year-old singer and actress has been making music consistently since 2023, after focusing on her acting career for a while, and all of her recent releases have overlapped with Swift’s, leading fans to suspect the timing was a marketing strategy.
Justice clarified that she’s just as surprised as the fans, considering she’s a longtime Swiftie herself: “I really love Taylor’s music. She’s an incredible songwriter, and the timing is just completely random.”
The You are the reason singer received mixed opinions on social media after agreeing to the same release date as Swift’s, with some calling it an “unfortunate” choice for her release, and some appreciating her choice to not focus on the comparison.
