Former Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell has died after a ‘complex major operation’. He was 64.
The Welsh rock musician’s death was announced by the band, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons, on social media. For those unfamiliar, Phil formed the rock band in 2016 with his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla Campbell.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who passed away peacefully last night after a long and courageous battle in intensive care following a complex major operation,” the statement said.
‘Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and a proud and loving grandfather, affectionately known as ‘Bampi’. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed,” she added.
“His legacy, music and the memories he created with so many will live on forever,” the statement concluded.
For those unfamiliar, Phil joined Motörhead in 1984 and remained a member until the band split in 2015.
A year later he founded the rock band The Bastard Sons.
