What advice did Arvid Lindblad receive from Lewis Hamilton before first F1 race weekend?

Formula 1 rookie Arvid Lindblad has received advice from experienced driver Lewis Hamilton ahead of his debut race weekend at the Australian Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old driver makes his first appearance in Formula 1 with Racing Bulls, Red Bull’s sister team.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was asked what advice he would give the young driver as he starts his career in Formula 1.

“First of all, I don’t feel like this is my 20th year. I feel younger than ever somehow, I feel very fresh,” Hamilton began.

“Even though he says he’s 18, I feel like I’m 18 too. It’s all in my head, and physically I feel great.”

“If I’m here in my first year, I would say: enjoy it, which he probably already does. It’s thrown into the deep end, because of all the obligations you have, and the circus takes some getting used to.

“He has already done a great job during the winter tests and obviously deserves to be here. I am looking forward to seeing how he develops.”

Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson also gave Lindblad advice as he prepared for his first Formula 1 race.

“I think you get a lot of preparation for F1 now, even in the junior categories, and he’s done a lot of testing, FP1 and stuff like that,” said Lawson.

“Once you get into the sport, it’s all of you [the media] and all the noise around it. That’s probably something new and much more intense than what you were used to before F1, so find time for yourself and make sure you’re focused.”

Lindblad is expected to make his Formula 1 debut on Sunday at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
