Who is Sam Carrick? Sabres acquire veteran centre from Rangers in late night trade


The Buffalo Sabers acquired veteran center Sam Carrick from the New York Rangers in a late night trade, adding depth to their roster ahead of the playoffs.

The Sports Net reported the deal shortly before 10:30 PM ET on Thursday, while additional details about the transaction were not immediately available.

Carrick, 34, is from Markham, Ontario and was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

Over the course of his career, Carrick has played parts of ten NHL seasons, playing for the Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers and most recently the New York Rangers.

This season, Carrick has played in 60 games for Rangers, recording four goals and six assists, while also registering 29 blocked shots and 86 strikes.

In 380 NHL games, Carrick has scored 38 goals and added 45 assists for a total of 83 points. He has also recorded 701 hits during his career.
