Channing Tatum had some concerns when she teamed up with new child actor, Mason Reeves, in the new movie: Josephine.
Reeves plays the 8-year-old boy who witnesses a brutal sexual assault in a park and subsequently develops behavioral problems. Tatum plays her father, Damien, and Gemma Chan plays her mother, Claire.
The Blink twice The star was concerned about the scenes where the father-daughter duo clashed because he thought Reeves might perceive his anger as real.
Following the film’s Friday premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Tatum, Reeves and Chan joined writer-director Beth de Araujo for a Q&A.
“This one made it a lot easier because it was just a lot of fun to play with her,” Tatum said.
Sharing his biggest concern, he said, “I was more concerned that she didn’t think I was really mad at her. I thought, ‘You know, I was just acting. Right?’
“He kept asking me about it, and I was like, ‘Everything’s going well!’” Reeves replied, causing the audience to laugh.
“I was so scared,” Tatum admitted with a laugh.
The Magic Mike The star admitted he cried “five, six, seven” times when he first watched the film at its premiere. He called Araujo a “master filmmaker.”
The Sundance Film Festival ends on February 1.
