Bad for good surprised the industry with a huge start as it delivered the strongest preview performance of the year.
The film earned $30.8 before its full release and immediately became the biggest preview winner of 2025.
Universal said this total came from several days of early screenings instead of the usual one-night plan.
The first wave of screenings kicked off Monday with special events supported by Amazon Prime that raised six point one million.
More early shows took place on Wednesday, adding another six point five million.
The biggest jump, however, occurred on Thursday when audiences filled the theaters for double screenings of Wicked and Bad for good which created an eighteen point two million push.
While, Superman held the previous preview record for 2025 with twenty-two point five million of Thursday’s shows before starting with one hundred and twenty-five million.
Moreover, experts believed that the new film could release between one hundred and fifty million and one hundred and eighty million, putting it close to the strongest debut of the year.
A Minecraft movie held that position with an opening of one hundred and sixty-two million after earning ten point six million from previews.
Even with new excitement, Universal remained cautious, citing a weekend estimate of one hundred and twenty-five million.
Fans once again showed great interest in Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
