The rumor mill didn’t stop there as another user claimed that the internet in the country was shut down for 18 hours.
“National internet shutdown for 18 hours starting at 11am tomorrow,” another user wrote – with the post bearing an uncanny similarity to the previous posts, reflecting the size and reach of the rumor mill worrying netizens.
“The internet in Pakistan will be shut down in a while. God knows what will happen in that time frame,” said another user.

No closure
However, none of these rumors are true and the internet will not be offline for 18 hours or any other period in the country.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has only warned of internet deterioration or partial disruption due to maintenance work on one of its submarine cables.
“A maintenance activity is planned on one of our submarine cables to repair a faulty repeater. The activity will begin on October 14, 2025 around 11 a.m. PST and may last up to 18 hours,” the authority said in a statement.
During this period, users across Pakistan may experience slow internet speeds or intermittent connection issues. The spokesperson regrets the inconvenience.
