Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox enjoy watching romantic comedies.
During a conversation with PEOPLE magazine to promote their new rom-com film Mervboth Hollywood stars revealed that they enjoy watching specific films in the romantic comedy genre.
Referring to the 1989 film starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, Deschanel said, “When Harry Met Sally is clearly a classic.”
The Harold and the purple crayon actress added, “I’m a really big fan of comedies that are the original rom-com: It Happened One Night, Bringing Up Baby, The Awful Truth, Philadelphia Story.”
On the other hand, Cox is a fan of the 2001 project American lovers, featuring an ensemble cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julia Roberts, Crystal, John Cusack and others.
“My very first trip to America, when I was 17, I went to an American cinema and saw that film, and it’s kind of a core memory for me,” the 43-year-old English actor said.
While talking about their recently released film, Deschanel confessed that she was excited to be a part of it Mervmainly because of the storyline.
She admitted, “I love rom-coms. For some reason people didn’t seem to make them as much for a while, I just didn’t see them.”
“I was just so excited to see a great romcom with these complex characters, and just a way to tell this sweet breakup and makeup story with a little bit of vacation and a little bit of puppy love,” noted the 45-year-old American actress and musician.
