Pattie Boyd has revealed that no one is behind the making of the upcoming film The Beatles biopic series contacted her despite the films featuring a character based on her life.
Scheduled for release in 2028, director Sam Mendes’ four-part project tells the story of the Beatles from the perspective of each band member, starring Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
Actors including Aimee Lou Wood, Saoirse Ronan and Anna Sawai have also joined the films, starring Boyd, Linda McCartney and Yoko Ono.
Boyd, who married George Harrison in 1966 after meeting him during filming A hard day nightsaid she was surprised that no one from production approached her personally.
Boyd, broke her silence during a podcast Miss O’Dell Abbey Road to Tulsa timewhere she said she thought it would have been polite if filmmakers had at least informed her that someone had been cast to play her.
“Maybe I’m completely wrong, but I thought it would be polite to tell me or let me know that they have someone who is going to play me,” she lamented. “Well, I haven’t been contacted by anyone.”
She added that she was able to share many personal stories from that period in music history. “I could have told them some really great stories.”
She continued, “But I don’t think they want to know,” adding that the filmmakers may not be interested in hearing directly from people who experienced these events firsthand. “I think they want to create something completely different, like a different story.”
She said the project seems to focus more on the filmmakers’ interpretation of events than on complete historical accuracy.
While she joked that she didn’t want to get “grumpy,” Boyd also made a sarcastic comment about Mendes, saying she heard he was apparently “famous.”
Meanwhile, Giles Martin, son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, recently praised the scripts and actors involved in the films.
“I work with the actors and they do a very good job, that’s all I can say,” he told us.
“The scripts are really good and brave, unlike anodyne. I am now on the second day of shooting. They are all very good actors, so I would not advise them, but I give them nuances and share things I have heard,” she added.
Fans got their first glimpse of the cast in costume earlier this year, leading many to praise Mescal’s resemblance to McCartney.
