India’s Hardik Pandya out of Asia Cup final against Pakistan

The Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the Blockbuster Asia Cup 2025 final against arch-rivals Pakistan, it will appear just before the game on Sunday.

Pandya was one of the Indian players who left the field during their Super Fours match against Sri Lanka.

The Indian all -rounder ran off the field after bowling only one against Sri Lanka.

After winning the throw and choosing to first in the final, the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that Rinku Singh Pandya replaces the ultimate game of the continental tournament.

“Hardik misses with a lump. Bumrah, Dube and Rinku come in,” said the Indian captain at the pitch.

This historic final marks the first time that Pakistan and India will face each other in a collision of an Asia cup title, which further fed the excitement around the meeting.

The Asia Cup, inaugurated in 1984 in the VAE with Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka who participate in a Round-Robin format, has a rich history.

India claimed the inaugural title, while the very first final was disputed in 1986, where Sri Lanka Pakistan defeated five wickets in Colombo to secure their first championship.

Pakistan won their first Asia Cup in 2000 and defeated Sri Lanka with 39 points in Dhaka and added a second title in 2012.

In general, Pakistan has shown in five Asia Cup Finals, won twice and three times in second place, the most recently against Sri Lanka in 2022.

India remains the most successful team of the tournament, after reaching 11 finals, win eight titles and ending three times.
