Kim Kardashian is setting the record straight about co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West.
Three years after finalizing the divorce, The Kardashians star opened up about how she and the rapper are dealing with raising their four children; North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.
“I raise the kids full-time,” Kim said on the episode Call her daddy with Alex Cooper.
“They live with me and I welcome a wonderful, healthy relationship with my children and their father. He knows that. I strive for it all the time, but I also protect them when the time comes and it comes in waves and phases. It’s a lot of work.”
While Kim said she allows the kids to see Kanye “when he calls,” she admitted it’s been a while since their last visit.
“It’s probably been a few months since we’ve heard from him,” she said. “They always knew that he had had a big life before traveling and being on tour and stuff, and he lives in different countries all the time and loves living everywhere. So we manage it very well.”
The SKIMS founder also addressed online claims that she is keeping their children away from Kanye. “I think the only thing that excites me is the story of how much I like to keep the kids away from him,” she said.
“I’ve never done that before. There have been so many times where I’ve thought, ‘Ah, I want to show all these lyrics, what are you talking about?’ I beg them to hang out or things like that.
She continued, “I think it’s all good and we’re living our lives, and then I wake up and there’s all these tweets about how I kidnapped the kids and I’m like, ‘It’s not a kidnapping. It’s divorce.'”
Ultimately, Kim said her focus remains on stability for her children. “They love their lives, their routine and schedule,” she said. “My job as a mother is to make sure they stick to their routine and that they are healthy and happy.”
