David Harbor offers some insights on regret during his divorce from Lily Allen after she accused him of cheating.
The Stranger things star talks about his career and personal life in a new interview with Esquire Spain published on November 1, just two weeks after Allen released her explosive new album West End girl with some devastating songs about infidelity.
In his conversation with Esquirewhich took place in September, Harbor reflected on the “pain, mistakes and errors” that shaped him as he turned 50.
When asked if he would change anything about his life so far, Harbor said, “That’s such a hard question – the question of regret, or something like that. I would change everything or nothing.”
He explained, “Either you fully accept your path and realize that even the pain, the mistakes, and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and there is truth and growth, wisdom, deeper empathy and connection in that.”
Harbor admitted that if he were to change anything, he would “just make my life happy and crazy,” but acknowledged that this would mean he “wasn’t an artist anymore,” which, he joked, “would be.”
Looking ahead, he said there are people he “wants to love, be good to, and cherish.”
The candid interview surfaced just like Allen’s West End girl sparked a fan frenzy with his unflinching look at their breakup. The fourteen-song album – written in just ten days – details her heartbreak after discovering Harbour’s alleged three-year affair and multiple infidelities.
In her new song MadelineAllen sings, “I can’t trust anything that comes out of his mouth,” while Tennis reportedly mentions the woman she confronted after finding a suspicious text message.
Days later, Allen took a cheeky swipe at her ex by dressing up as “Madeline” (Ludwig Bemelmans’ children’s book character) for Halloween.
