Taylor Swift’s response (or lack thereof) to US President Donald Trump after he used the global icon’s trending song in a TikTok video has got fans talking.
The 35-year-old pop superstar has famously opposed the Trump administration and what it stands for, to the extent that she directly criticized them in her documentary: Ms. Americana.
The 14-time Grammy winner’s political stance made her silence even stranger, as social media users urged her to take legal action against the White House’s official social media over its use The fate of Ophelia in a promotional video.
Against the tide of public opinion, the video was not removed on social media, and two more of Swift’s songs were used in the president’s report.
While the same account used Olivia Rodrigo’s song on TikTok, she condemned it in the comments and had it legally removed, increasing pressure on Swift’s team, who were contacted by reputable publications but declined to comment.
