Victoria Beckham clarifies her claim that she grew up working class.
In 2023, Victoria appeared in husband David Beckham’s Netflix docuseries and claimed she was raised “very working class.” But David interrupted her and asked her to ‘be honest’ and reveal which car her father took her to school in.
“Okay, back in the 80s my dad had a Rolls-Royce,” she replied. The clip went viral on social media and Victoria took advantage of it by releasing a t-shirt with the text “My father had a Rolls-Royce” written on it.
Now the fashion designer is correcting the claim.
During a performance op The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘, she said: ‘My father was a real entrepreneur. You know, he really inspired me. He came from nowhere and used to drive a van because he had an electrical company.’
“He took us to school in the van and we were happy, but when he was doing really well in the ’80s, the first thing he did was buy himself a Rolls-Royce,” she continued. “And we were devastated…kids just want to fit in. We used to be him, we’d beg him, we’d be like, ‘Please take us in the van, we don’t want to be in the Rolls-Royce.’ So we kept it real, Jimmy.”
