Josh Segarra talks about who he thinks is the real standout performer on set Best medicine.
The actor stars in the upcoming film alongside Josh Charles, Annie Potts and Abigail Spencer Fox serieswhich premieres on January 4.
However, when Segarra was asked to name the best actor on set, he had a completely different answer in mind.
In a new conversation with PEOPLE MagazineSegarra revealed that his top choice is Wattson, the dog who plays the mischievous pup Copernicus on the show.
“The best actor on our set, playing Copernicus,” Segarra said, pointing to the dog star.
“I love that puppy. We had a lot of fun.”
The proud father of three also shared that the show features more than one animal scene-stealer.
“We have our little pig, Sprinkle, and we have our little dog, Copernicus,” he added.
“Every time I work with one of the animals, I send pictures to my boys, and they get a big kick out of it.”
Segarra further reflected on how working with animals on set adds an extra layer of perspective to the work.
“Those are days when you realize how surreal it is, what we are going to do,” he continued.
“This is my job. To hang out at this police station with my husband, Wattson, and we call for action. He sprints out, and I almost have to run. [after him].”
He concluded by marveling at the experience, saying, “And it’s a big, high-intensity scene, and they call it cut. And you’re like, ‘Man, it’s wild what we get to do.’ So it’s always a fun day when you get to work with an animal.”
