Daniel Radcliffe is excited to watch the new Harry Potter TV program with his son.
During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colberttold the 36-year-old star that he’s looking forward to seeing a new generation of actors take on the roles in the upcoming TV adaptation of Harry Potter.
With Harry’s role being taken over by Dominic McLaughlin, Radcliffe said this means his son will have a version of Harry Potter without his on-screen father, as Radcliff believes his presence in the film would make the franchise “less cool” for his son.
“I’m thrilled that when my child grows up and likes Harry Potter, he’ll be able to see a version that isn’t me,” the doting dad shared.
“I feel like it would be less cool to watch it with your dad. It would take you out of it,” Radcliff explained.
“So it’s wonderful, and it means that at some point there will be someone else to answer all the Harry Potter questions and I can pass that on to them as well.”
He added: “It’s amazing!”
And with that he is also happy to see that the role of Harry Potter is played by someone other than himself.
“We’ve had three Spider-Mans in my life so far,” Radcliffe said jokingly. “When you look at a character like Sherlock Holmes, there’s always going to be a lot of repetitions, so I’m really happy to see it passed on to someone else and good luck to them all.”
It is pertinent to mention that Radcliffe welcomed his son, whose name has not yet been revealed, with his girlfriend Erin Darke.
