Critics share verdict on ‘Stranger Things’ ultimate finale

Reviewers get honest about ‘Stranger Things’ finale

Since 2016, fans have been waiting for this moment when Netflix drops the finale of the mega-hit series Stranger things.

The episode lasted 2 hours and 8 minutes and for the first time ever, the show’s episode is being released in theaters, which begs the question: what are critics saying about it?

To write Empire online, reviewer Leila Latif opines: “Grand, heartfelt and impeccably crafted, Stranger Things’ finale is solid but oh-so safe, favoring comfort and closure over terror, destruction and the daring mythology promised.”

Echoing her overall take on the showThe Wraps critic Bob Strauss writes, “Matt and Ross Duffer’s magnum opus came to a satisfying conclusion while leaving room for the countless millions who care deeply enough — itself quite a feat in our atomized pop culture age — to nitpick the thing to death. The creators probably know that’s fun or cathartic, depending on how much the show meant to you.”

In NerdistMichael Walsh, an author, reviews: “This final chapter ended this party’s campaign with a satisfying send-off. But like the rest of Stranger Things 5’s few baffling decisions and odd pacing, Stranger Things’ finale kept the series finale from true greatness.”

However, not every critic is impressed with the finale. Critics Angie Han and Daniel Feinberg, for example. In The Hollywood Reporterthey both share their thoughts on the final outing of one of Netflix’s most-watched series.

“This latest extravaganza has made it clear to me why I’ve been so annoyed with this show lately and desperately want it to end already,” says Angie.

Sharing her thoughts, Daniel adds, “I also had some disappointment that they properly returned to the Mind Flayer, especially since the ‘giant spider’ of it all made me think back to the miniseries adaptation of It and the giant spider that blew all the good will from before.”

In short, critics are mixed on Matt and Ross Duffer’s finale of the globally popular film Stranger things.
