Georgina Rodriguez reflects on the timing of Christiano Ronaldo’s proposal

Georgina Rodriguez shares her two cents on her fiancé Cristiano Ronaldo’s timing in proposing to her.

In her most straightforward response yet, it’s “the least he could offer” after nearly a decade together.

“It’s beautiful,” Rodriguez first said of her engagement ring Elle Spain on Wednesday. “It’s the least he could offer me after ten years of waiting,” the influencer then added.

Rodriguez recalled being stunned by the enormous oval-cut diamond, but admitted she didn’t open it until the next day in the sunlight.

“The truth is, when he asked me to marry him, it was the last thing on my mind. It took me a long time to process the huge stone he gave me. I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn’t open it until the next day in the sunlight,” she told the magazine.

Rodriguez also hinted that their upcoming wedding will be quite intimate. “It will definitely be a small wedding, 100%.”

Ronaldo, 40, and Rodriguez, 31, announced their engagement in August, more than eight years after their first public appearance together at the 2017 Best FIFA Football Awards.

The ring weighs an estimated 37 carats and could be worth up to $5 million.

During a November interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo explained that he chose the ring because it was Rodriguez’s “dream to have a good stone.”

He also said it was their daughters who encouraged him to pop the question.

The couple shares five children, including twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8; Alana, 8; Bella, 3; and Ronaldo’s 15-year-old son, Cristiano Jr.. They also experienced the loss of Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, in 2022.
