Hilary Duff gives rare insight into personal life in new song Mature

Hilary Duff recently shared rare insights into her personal life in her new single, Adult.

On November 6, the singer and actress dropped her new song after 10 years, co-written and produced by her husband Matthew Koma, along with a music video.

The Younger actress discussed her comeback during an appearance at Jake Shane’s Therapus podcast on November 5.

“It was always going to happen,” the 38-year-old noted.

Hilary continued: “There’s no way this wouldn’t be part of my story.”

Looking back on her life in her late thirties, How I met your father star revealed that she was “ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of today.”

“It’s taken a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs and all that stuff, but I have this crazy bond with fans that I’ve known since I was nine, 10 years old, and I just want to reconnect with them,” Hilary explains.

The actress noted, “We’ve been through a lot of the same things — whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorce, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama.”

Hilary said she felt “safe enough and comfortable” in her own family to step out and open up that part of herself again.

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer described her new song as “talking to my younger self about an experience we had and being okay with it and having a little tongue-in-cheek moment with yourself and accepting your past and being okay with where you’ve ended up.”
