Is new film on the cards?

Ben Affleck’s quiet F1 visit ties in with his new film project

Ben Affleck kept a noticeably low profile as he arrived at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit for the F1 Grand Prix on Friday.

The 53-year-old actor entered the paddock wearing a simple blue jacket with a brown collar, layered over a gray sweater, paired with khaki. Clean-shaven and unusually reserved, he attracted silent attention as he walked toward the garages.

The appearance was inevitably reminiscent of his viral ‘Sad Affleck’ moment from 2016, the photo of him looking exhausted in London.

But this time, his demeanor felt less weary and more introspective – an older, calmer version of the actor who has long been in the public eye.

Affleck’s presence at the race wasn’t just casual. Together with Matt Damon, he is executive producer of a documentary about Adrian Newey, one of Formula 1’s most influential engineers.

Their company, Artists Equity, is developing the project – currently titled Turbulence: the greatest mind in Formula 1 – in collaboration with Whisper Group and Mark Stewart Productions.

The film follows Newey’s storied career and his recent move from Red Bull to Aston Martin Aramco, offering a rare insight into his work at the team’s Silverstone headquarters.

With twelve constructors’ titles and fourteen drivers’ championships tied to his designs, Newey’s impact is unparalleled.

Affleck has described the documentary as “about a living legend whose unparalleled career is full of ambition and reinvention,” adding that the project reflects Artists Equity’s commitment to exploring “deep human qualities” in the stories it wants to tell.

Affleck’s Vegas stop came during an already busy week. A day earlier, he was seen in Los Angeles before attending the American Cinematheque Award ceremony in honor of Michael B. Jordan, where he appeared on stage in a black suit among a series of notable presenters.
