Jennifer Garner reflected on her decades-long friendship with Judy Greer.
Speak with People magazineGarner and Greer reflected on reuniting for season two of The last thing he told me after first appearing together in the 2004 rom-com 13 Goes through 30.
Garner told the outlet, “Not only do we bring this work experience from 20 years ago, but we also bring over 20 years of friendship.”
He added, “And not every day, not all the time, but we find each other again and again. We’ve found each other again and again over the years. So she’s carried me through things. I’ve carried her, and I think that’s all played a role.”
Garner further noted, “I think we take our jobs more seriously now than we did when we were younger.”
“Judy is such a formidable actress. I really wanted to show up and give her something to work opposite,” she added of Greer.
On the other hand, Greer also noted that it’s best to “get paid to hang out with your friend.”
“It’s funny that we also keep playing characters who disagree with each other. I wonder what it would be like to work with her if we were best friends and really loved each other. We always joke about that,” she added.
Greer said, “Then we would never have to separate on set again – because there were times when we had to stay apart, especially with some of those dramatic scenes we had together.”
“I would say, ‘Stay away. You’re a rock. You’re a ghost. I’m not allowed to be near you until we’re done shooting,” she added.
