Kate Winslet criticized people who have had plastic surgery.
The 50-year-old actress confirmed that she doesn’t like it when people allow themselves to be artificially changed. “Oh, it’s terrifying. I’m thinking, ‘No, not you! Why?'” she said in an interview with The times.
She then blamed social media for this phenomenon, saying that she believes people with cosmetic enhancements become “obsessed with chasing an idea of perfection to get more likes on Instagram.”
The Titanic actress added: “You don’t actually know what that person looks like – from the eyebrows to the mouth to the eyelashes to the hair, that young woman is afraid to be herself. What idea of perfection are people striving for? I blame social media and its effect on mental health.”
Kate also revealed that she is not a fan of weight loss drugs for aesthetic reasons, saying: “When someone’s self-esteem is so closely tied to the way they look, it’s scary.”
“And it’s confusing because I have moments when I think it’s better, when I look at actresses at events, dressed the way they want, in whatever form – but then so many people are on weight loss drugs. It’s so varied,” she added.
The holiday star confirmed she “didn’t do anything” or inject it into her face. “My favorite thing is when your hands get old,” she said.
“That’s life, in your hands. “Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70 and what upsets me is that young women have no idea what being beautiful actually is,” said Kate.
The actress has also previously spoken about the How to fail podcast about growing older and how she learned to embrace it.
“We’re so conditioned, women in our 40s, that we think, OK, I’m getting closer and closer to the end. You know, you think you’re going to hit menopause and you’re not going to have sex anymore, and your breasts are going to sag, and your skin is going to be crepey, and all that stuff. But first of all, what about that? And second of all, it’s just conditioning,” Kate Winslet concluded.
