Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appear to be exploring a growing romance that combines mutual respect and undeniable chemistry.
According to a Canadian source familiar with the political world, the two are “quite pleased with each other” for now. “Besides the attraction, they are both smart and like to talk about serious issues,” the source said.
Although they both lead demanding lives — Perry, 40, is currently on her Lifetimes World Tour through December, while Trudeau, 53, remains based in Canada — the bond has quietly deepened.
“They have kept in touch since mid-summer, but haven’t been able to spend as much time together, mainly because of her schedule,” the insider explains.
“Justin is busy too and both have family commitments. They have common interests. Both are taking dating as it comes. But they are absolutely crazy about each other – and have been.”
Their bond reportedly evolved steadily over time, combining friendship and romantic interest. “Justin thinks she’s amazing,” the source added.
“It’s had time to develop on a friendship and intellectual level, but also on a super-major attraction level. The romance has merit.”
Neither Perry nor Trudeau have publicly commented on the status of their relationship.
Romance rumors first emerged in July when they were spotted together walking, enjoying drinks and later dining out in Montreal, a month after Perry split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom.
Trudeau had previously announced his divorce from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Two days after their outing in Montreal, Trudeau was spotted at Perry’s concert in the city. The two were recently photographed kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara in late September.
A separate Perry insider noted, “When she first started seeing Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch. He even flew to California to see her during a tour break. They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
During her London Lifelong tour Stop on Monday night, Perry responded coyly to a fan holding a sign that read, “I heard you’re single.” With a smile she replied, “Did you hear I was single? That’s interesting.”
