Keith Urban seemed to have quietly reflected on his marriage to Nicole Kidman during the premiere of his new CBS show The Road.
The country star, who recently divorced the Oscar-winning actress after 19 years of marriage, performed his song Straight line on stage and fans quickly discovered the hidden meaning in the lyrics.
In the song, Keith sang, “Why do we live in circles every day? Just burning out, burning out,” followed by, “I don’t just wanna go through the motions.”
The song, which is about breaking away from a tiring and exhausting routine, felt like a possible nod to his own emotional state post-breakup.
Keith explained that earlier Straight line was written about wanting to escape the ‘soul-sucking routine’, whether it concerns love, work or life itself.
However, he said it was about the feeling of being alive again after being under a dark cloud.
During the same episode, Keith opened up about the struggles of his career and admitted how lonely and exhausting tour life can be.
The music icon described moments when he woke up on a bus feeling sick, missing his family and questioning his purpose, only to realize that music is his passion.
For those unfamiliar, Nicole filed for divorce on September 30 and shared her disagreements. The two share daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
Reports later claimed that Keith had already moved on with another musician, although he has not publicly confirmed any new relationships.
