Macaulay Culkin revealed his non-negotiable rules when it comes to interacting with fans
The Home alone star appeared on the December 29 episode of the SlimLess podcast and talked about being a child star and how he’s been dealing with his stardom since then.
Host Sean Hayes asked him how he deals with the public outings. Culkin said he has some rules.
“I definitely need to gird myself… for outings and so on. I just set some ground rules for myself,” he replied.
Culkin went on to say, “Don’t approach me when I’m at the table. I don’t like that. You know what? Don’t approach me when I’m with my kids. Definitely don’t follow me into the bathroom.”
He added: “I just realized that I am responsible for the social contract,” Culkin said. “I am responsible for the interaction.”
It is pertinent to mention that Culkin shares two children, a four-year-old daughter Dakota, and a three-year-old son Carson, with his fiancée Brenda Song.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Culkin talked about how “hard” it was to be a household name at a very young age.
“It was difficult, tricky waters to maneuver through and things like that, because you don’t necessarily have the factual or emotional vocabulary to really, you know, maneuver through those waters,” the actor recalled.
“And I always saw myself as an incomparable person. Like, I couldn’t turn left and right, know, like, and say, ‘Oh, you’re just like me.’ … It was a very unique experience,” he added.
