Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson left Monday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche with a lower-body injury and did not return, the team announced.
The injury occurred early in the first period when Robertson blocked a shot from Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson.
According to reporting from Nick Alberga of The Leafs Nation, the 24-year-old winger was unable to put weight on his left foot as he was helped off the ice.
Robertson entered this season with 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 42 games. Now in his sixth NHL season and third as a full-time regular, he has scored 42 goals and 36 assists for 78 points in 198 regular season games with Toronto.
He also appeared in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games and recorded three points.
The former second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft spent parts of four seasons with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, where he scored 57 points in 60 games.
Before turning pro, Robertson played three seasons in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes, producing 174 points in 162 games.
Toronto entered Monday’s game with a 22-15-7 record, sixth in the Atlantic Division and one point shy of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Maple Leafs were on a three-game winning streak and were 7-1-2 in their previous 10 games.
After the game against Colorado, Toronto continues its road trip with games against Utah, Vegas and Winnipeg.
