Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan talk all about how Sinners was made.

The horror movie featured vampires, and that means blood. According to Coogler and Jordan, the cast had a little too much fun as the blood was everywhere.

“We had so much fun amid all the carnage,” Coogler said on the channel Award winner podcast. “It was chaos.”

The Religion actor remembered actors sharing stories about biting or being bitten.

Jordan said, “If you got excited later in the movie, you never had that experience. But Jack [O’Connell] did.”

So he asked his castmate, “Hey, Jack, so when the blood… what do you do when it’s gushing and it’s there?” So we all share experiences about what you will do if you get bitten.”

The director noted that it became a “rite of passage” for the cast, but a nuisance for the crew.

“We have very proud department heads, and we put our blood on everything,” he noted with a laugh.

He continued: “[Production designer] Hannah [Beachler]’ is like, ‘Oh my God, my set!’ And [costume designer] Ruth [Carter]’ is like, ‘Oh my God, my costumes!’ And then [cinematographer] Autumn [Durald Arkapaw]is like, ‘Jesus Christ, my camera!'”

People behind the camera started draping themselves in plastic because “we don’t know exactly which way the blood is going,” said the Black Panther star.
