As hype for the Stranger things The finale is at a fever pitch, Netflix is slashing figures for season five, part 2, which claims to have the highest viewership of all time at Christmas.
Since its release last week, it has racked up 34.5 million views, second only to the streamer’s highest weekly total.
Only one Variety report adds that in addition, this year saw the largest holiday viewing ever Stranger things season five, part two, will also include streaming of NFL games and other titles.
Given the hype surrounding the series, Netflix surprisingly announced that the show would also be released in theaters in addition to the streamer.
The finale, titled The Rightside Up, lasts two hours and five minutes. Additionally, Ross Duffer, one of the series’ creators, reflected on the threat Eleven would face from the military in a previous interview.
“There is the supernatural threat, which this season is represented by Vecna. But the military has always been a threat, from season 1,” he said. Varietyand adds, “Even when Brenner is gone, he’s constantly being replaced by someone else. In this case, in season 5, by Kay.”
To show viewers a contrast, Ross said the team decided to introduce Kali, whose view of how things will end is very different from Mike’s belief in a “happy ending.”
“So we needed Kali to represent perhaps a more pessimistic, but perhaps realistic version, compared to Mike’s worldview of butterflies and rainbows.”
“And Kali asks, ‘How is this going to work? And what is the solution here, that you can live a normal life?’ That’s really a big part of Eleven’s journey this season,” Ross concluded.
