Lili Reinhart Recalls Harrowing Experience on ‘Forbidden Fruits’ Set: ‘I Took It Personally’

Lili Reinhart opened up about her toxic encounter with a male director on set Forbidden fruits.

For those who don’t know, the recently released comedy horror film Forbidden fruits is directed by Meredith Alloway, while Lily Houghton wrote the screenplay, as it is based on her play. From the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die.

The film features an ensemble cast including Reinhart, Gabrielle Union, Lola Tung, Emma Chamberlain, Alexandra Shipp and Victoria Pedretti.

Apple, Fig (played by Shipp), and Cherry (played by Pedretti) join Pumpkin (played by Tung) to complete their coven, but things take an unfortunate turn when they discover a snake in their garden.

During a conversation with Cosmopolitan along with her co-stars Shipp, Tung and Pedretti, the 29-year-old American actress asked to share “one acting note” that she “took personally.”

She said, “Oh yeah, when I had a male director come up to me, silently lean over and say, ‘Just suck your stomach a little.’

It is pertinent to mention that Reinhart kept the director’s name under wraps despite being encouraged by her co-stars to reveal his name.

‘Tell you later,’ the Riverdale star told them.

This comes up after her performance in March Deadline’s SXSW Studiowhere Reinhart got honest about feeling empowered working on a female-centric set.

She joked, “It was the ultimate collaboration, which is so nice, because sometimes that really isn’t the case, and then it’s like, ‘This is what you’re wearing.'”

“For Apple, it’s a lot of black and sleek, but it’s not for the male gaze. It’s for herself. And I think you can see the difference… it’s not to say ‘look at me,’ it’s to say ‘stay the fuck away from me’ in a way, which I think is great,” Lili Reinhart explains.
