Kate Mansi reveals why she’s leaving the soap ‘General Hospital’

Kate Mansi has officially retired from the daytime soap opera General Hospital.

The 38-year-old actress, who played Kristina Corinthos-Davis on the long-running show for the past three years, confirmed she is not renewing her contact with ABC.

Speaking to journalist Stephanie Sloane, the actress revealed that she left the show for a few reasons.

“I have made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital,” said Kate. “I have a few new projects that require my full attention, together with my husband [Matt McInnis] I am currently producing a series that is filmed primarily abroad, but I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.

She went on to say, “I’m incredibly grateful for it [executive producer] Frank [Valentini]ABC and our writers for the care they gave Kristina.”

“It was such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family,” the Emmy-winning actress continued. “When Frank first approached me about the role, two things resonated deeply with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell a storyline about endometriosis.”

“Together, I really feel like we honored both stories in a way that mattered. And the fact that I got to direct was just the icing on the cake! Now it feels like the right time for both Kristina and I to embark on new adventures,” Kate added.
