Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo’s wife Fleur has ended her 14-year marriage to the singer after he came out as gay.
The 33-year-old singer left his fans in shock on Saturday when he announced that he is a “proud gay man”.
“There has been a lot of speculation about my personal life lately and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it impacts those I love. I am a proud gay man,” Caleb wrote on Instagram.
Hours later, Caleb’s wife Fleur also shared a statement on Instagram, confirming that her marriage to the musician is now over.
“I’m not really sure how to start this thing, does anything even need to be said? But I think I’ll just dive in,” she began.
Caleb Shomo’s wife further wrote, “These past few months have been a very disorienting and hurtful time to navigate. For both of us. But I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well-being over the years than anything else in the world.”
“To support him as he lost everything was incredibly difficult to imagine,” she wrote. “You can love and support your person during the most difficult time of their life, while at the same time being completely destroyed and losing yourself,” Fleur continued.
She confirmed that her marriage to Caleb is now over, writing, “Our almost 14 years of marriage was amazing and full of so much fun, adventure and love. No one will know about our marriage like we do. And no one can ever truly know the depths of love that exist between two people unless those people are them.”
“I already miss it and my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it’s over,” she added.
For those unfamiliar, Caleb exchanged vows with Fleur in April 2012.
