The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that forward Max Domi will be sidelined indefinitely after complications related to offseason surgery.
The team said Domi had surgery to treat an issue that had been bothering him throughout the regular season.
According to the Maple Leafs, the 31-year-old will continue rehabilitation with the team’s medical staff over the summer, with a further update expected during fall training camp.
Domi played in 80 games last season, recording 12 goals and 36 points, while also leading the team with 95 penalty minutes.
The Winnipeg-born athlete has spent the last three seasons in Toronto and his strongest performance came during the 2023-24 season when he scored 47 points in 80 games.
Domi is the son of former Maple Leafs fan favorite Tie Domi and has three years left on the four-year, $15 million contract extension he signed with Toronto in July 2024.
The deal has an annual salary cap of $3.75 million for the 2028-2029 season and includes a no-trade clause for 13 teams.
