Saim Ayub surpasses Hardik Pandya to become No 1 T20I all-rounder

The Saim Ayub from Pakistan has claimed the top position in the ICC T20 International All-Rounder rankings and reached an important milestone in his career.

Although his recent stroke form has been inconsistent, Ayub’s contribution has played a decisive role with the ball to lift him at the number one place.

The left -handed opening fittings preceded India’s Hardik Pandya, which slid to second, while Mohammad Nabi in Afghanistan retained third position with 231 rating points.

Among others Pakistani players, Mohammad Nawaz climbed four places to the 13th with 166 points, alongside Faheem Ashraf, who also went up four places to the 35th with 100 points.

Pace-Bowling Allrounder Shaheen Afridi made significant progress and jumped 15 places to the 56th.

However, not all movement was up for Pakistan. Shadab Khan dropped one place on the 36th, Captain Salman Agha slid to the 72nd, Abbas Afridi fell three places to 79th, and iftikhar Ahmed went two places to 92nd.

This performance marks an important boost for Saim Ayub, who continues to settle as one of the most versatile T20 players from Pakistan.

For the unexpected, the 23-year-old eight wickets claimed in seven games with an economy of 6.40 in the recently closed ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025.

In the latest ICC T20i rankings from Pakistan Sahaibzada Farhan Sprong 11 places to secure the 13th place with 658 points, after his excellent hike in the Asia Cup, where he turned out to be an important contribution to his side.

Fakhar Zaman climbed six places to reach the 60th, while skipper Salman Ali Agha went up two places to 62nd. Wicketkeeper-Batter Mohammad Haris has also made significant progress and rose 11 places to 79th with 431 points.

In the meantime, the star pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who have been out of the T20i plans of Pakistan since 2024, slipped the ranking. Babar dropped two places to the 37th and Rizwan three places to 41st.

Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz also lost ground, both valleys three places to 57th and 61st respectively.

At the top, India’s Abhishek Sharma continues to rank the number 1 T20i -Brewman, followed by England’s Phil Salt in Second and India’s Tilak Varma in third place.

In the ranking of the ICC T20i Bowlers, Pacer Shaheen Afridi climbed 12 places to reach the 13th place, equal to the Axar Patel of India with 635 points.

Mohammad Nawaz also moved five places to 41st, while Saim Ayub made a remarkable leap from 51 places to 58th with 482 points.

Pacer Faheem Ashraf also rose 26 places to 93rd with 418 points.

However, the rankings also saw some setbacks. Spinner Abrar Ahmed slid three places to the seventh, while Sufiyan Muqema also dropped three places on the 17th with 624 points.

Pacer Haris Rauf fell five places to 33rd with 548 points, and Abbas Afridi dropped six places to the 50th.

In the meantime, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy continues to lead as the number 1 T20i Bowler, followed by Jacob Duffy van Nieuw -Zeeland in Second and Adam Zampa van Australia in third place.
