Pedro Pascal just admitted that he felt like a “deer in the headlights” during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show because he had no idea he would be part of the performance.
The Hollywood actor was keen to be involved in the superstar’s huge performance at the football match earlier this year and offered to take on a volunteer role. He was happy to serve drinks alone if it meant he could be part of the production.
Pedro told Fantastic person magazine: “I wanted to get involved in any way – literally a volunteer role, like serving coffee when needed – and I reached out to the people I work with.”
He continued, “When it comes to representation that is synchronized with celebration, there is no one better than Benito [Bad Bunny] right now, and that fills me with inspiration beyond just loving his music.”
Pedro didn’t hear about his request for help, so he sent a selfie to prove his identity. He claims the singer’s team contacted him immediately.
“Afterwards, I complained that I didn’t hear back and sent someone an email with a selfie of me sticking out my tongue and saying, ‘It’s really me.’ Within 25 minutes they called me back and said, ‘We want you to come to the show,'” he added.
The Mandalorian star also admits that he thought the invite meant he would be watching the show from a box and was surprised to find out he would be part of the performance.
He told the publication: “I was under the impression I would be in a suite. There was a dress code – ‘wear beige’ – but I thought this was in case there was a photographer.”
“So we’re sitting in the stands watching the game and someone pulls me out of my seat and takes me backstage and then there’s Cardi B and there’s Young Miko and Karol G and Jessica Alba,” he recalls.
“They do a wardrobe check and then they say to me, ‘Okay, so the vibe is: you’re dancing.’ I started realizing it right before they started, and I thought, ‘It’s the Casita. I’m such a fucking idiot. Oh my God, I’m going to be in the Casita,’ as I was being marched into the field,” he said.
“So I guess that’s why I looked like a deer in the headlights,” concluded Pedro Pascal as he opened up about why he felt like the odd one out among the singers.
