‘Bachelorette’ star Taylor Frankie Paul breaks silence after prosecutors dropped her charges

Taylor Frankie Paul is reflecting on the ‘ugly sides’ of healing after officials dismissed domestic violence charges against her by her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Women took to her Instagram account on Sunday to respond to the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office’s announcement that they had dropped charges against her after two Utah police departments said in February that they had opened separate domestic violence investigations into alleged altercations between Paul and her ex-boyfriend, filed two years ago.

She began, “Here comes the ugly side of what healing actually looks like. If you know me, you know I will admit my parts, flaws and mistakes. I’m well aware that that’s part of it. We’ll get there.’

Taylor, who also has a two-year-old son, Ever, with Dakota, further explained: “This public atrocity that I have now witnessed not only once but twice, on an even grander scale, was ultimately the price of my freedom. I would not wish this on my worst enemy, even those who publicized it. I was on my knees crying in pain while also saying THANK YOU.”

“We have a road ahead of us, but either way, I am forever freed from a certain hell that I could not find a way out of,” the mother of three further noted. “Somehow I’m still here… as we can barely see, because I believe God has kept me through and sent help, plus an army that makes me cry, because I want to thank you all for your support even without full context.”

“God undoubtedly had a hand in this because after 7 weeks of waiting on the 7th day EXACTLY I got the call and all charges have been dropped. …We are working on eating, exercising, resting and retraining the nervous system. I will share the process because if my worst is shared, I better believe I will share the rebuilding as well,” Taylor concluded.

In an Instagram Story posted after her response, Taylor revealed that she was “diagnosed with PTSD about two years ago,” which she says is “now CPSD.”

For those unfamiliar, Taylor was arrested in 2023 after an alleged domestic violence incident, but the case came under scrutiny after Taylor’s video of throwing metal chairs at Dakota in front of a child from the same year was leaked. The video was first published by TMZ.

After the video went viral, ABC drew De Bachelor party season 22, in which the Hulu star would be the Bachelorette.
