Hollywood is mourning the loss of legendary actress Diane Keaton, who has died at the age of 79.
The late star’s family confirmed the news of her death in California, while producer and close friend Dori Rath shared the update with CBS News.
One of the most daring voices in American cinema, Keaton first attracted attention in the early 1970s as Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather.
Diane’s performance in Annie Hallmade her a global name a few years later, earning her the Oscar for Best Actress and cementing her place in film history.
Over a career spanning more than fifty years, the actress became known for her effortless humor and unique screen presence, as her roles in Father of the bride, The First Women’s Club, And Something has to give made her a favorite from generation to generation.
She also directed several projects, including the Cannes-recognized Unstrung Heroes.
