Taylor Swift has once again caused excitement online with her latest release, Woodfrom her new album The life of a showgirl.
Fans and media are abuzz with speculation that the song playfully references her fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Known for her personal stories, Swift delivers some of her boldest lyrics yet in this song, sparking widespread conversations.
The pre-chorus alone has turned heads: “Forgive me, it sounds cy / He ah-matized me / And opened my eyes / Redwood tree / It’s not hard to see / His love was the key / That opened my thighs.”
While Swift hasn’t confirmed that the song is about Kelce, the connection seems clear to listeners — and even sports media are getting in on the action.
Bill Simmons, CEO of The Ringer, joked further The Bill Simmons Podcast That Wood should be Kelce’s new nickname.
“We just called him Wood the whole game. It was a lot of fun. It was like, ‘Mahomes, take it to Wood!’ Obviously this should be his nickname,” Simmons said.
During her performance op The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonSwift laughed when the song came up.
“I wanted it to sound timeless,” she said, blushing. “It started in a very innocent place… I don’t know what happened, man. I got in there, we started shaking and I don’t know how we got there. But I love this song so much.”
On the New heights podcast, Jason Kelce teased his brother. “Are you feeling cocky?” he asked, to which Travis replied, “Every song where she references me is…I love that girl.”
Jason added, “That’s not just a song… it’s an appendage,” prompting Travis to grin and say, “I don’t think you understand the song.”
