Elizabeth Olsen opened up about why she prefers to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, saying she doesn’t want people to know her personality too well.
In a new interview with In Stylethe 36-year-old actress explained that her decision to stay off social media stems from a desire to protect her privacy.
“If you put yourself out there, people think you want them to come in,” she said.
“I don’t want anyone to know my personality that well. Or identify me as someone who makes a specific kind of crazy trope video or something on Instagram once a month.”
The Eternity actress said she wants the public to focus on her work rather than her personal image. “I don’t want people to associate me with a brand.
I want people to watch a movie and see me as a character,” she added, noting that while some actors balance both well, she prefers to keep her online presence limited.

“I think I’m private in some ways, but I say too much. I’m long-winded and wordy.”
Looking back on her early years, the star said she always wanted to act, but didn’t rush into fame.

Now, Elizabeth believes her acting continues to improve with time. “I feel more capable,” she said.
