Johnny Depp’s long-awaited return to Hollywood sparked both excitement and outrage after reports confirmed he was in final talks to helm a new film.
Three years after his highly publicized defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor is now ready to make his comeback on the big screen. Ebenezer: A Christmas Carola fresh look at the timeless story of Charles Dickens.
Depp was reportedly in negotiations to play the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge, the cold-hearted businessman visited by ghosts who taught him the meaning of kindness and redemption.
The film was made by Paramount Pictures and directed by Ti West, known for horror hits such as Pearl and Maxxine.
Actress Andrea Riseborough is also said to appear in the film, which is due out in November next year.
However, the news left people divided as some were furious and said Depp didn’t deserve another big shot after the abuse claims Heard made during their marriage.

Meanwhile, others are happy to see him return, calling him the perfect fit for the role. “Johnny Depp as Scrooge? Brilliant choice. He’ll take over that cold-blooded attitude,” said a fan.
