Sean “Diddy” Combs may not spend as long behind bars as expected.
According to Termthe disgraced rapper’s legal team just scored a victory that could expedite his appeal and potentially shorten his 50-month prison sentence.
Days after he was transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution — a softer, low-security prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey — a federal appeals judge granted Combs’ defense team an expedited schedule. The ruling, issued by U.S. Circuit Court Judge Beth Robinson, sets the first round of filings for December 23, 2025, with oral arguments set to begin as early as April 2026.
“It is hereby REGISTERED that the motion is granted,” Robinson wrote in her brief ruling, giving Combs’ legal team everything they asked for.
The accelerated timeline means the 55-year-old Bad Boy Records founder could make his call well ahead of his current release date of May 8, 2028.
Combs’ attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, filed the request last week, which the court approved unopposed.
The decision follows the rapper’s conviction on October 3, when he was given a four-year term for transportation to engage in prostitution, along with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
If convicted on the more serious charges of RICO and sex trafficking, Combs could have faced life behind bars. But for now, Diddy is adjusting to his new surroundings at Fort Dix FCI, where he reportedly spent time with fellow inmate and former NBA player Sebastian Telfair.
TMZ received the first photos of Combs at the FCI Fort Dix prison this weekend, showing him cheerfully smiling from ear to ear and laughing with fellow inmates.
