Every actor’s career is filled with highs and lows, and Sydney Sweeney experiences that reality firsthand. After a series of great successes with Euphoria And Everyone but youthe actress has been going through a rough patch with her recent projects.
Her last three films — Mrs. Web, Edenand the newly released Christy – have failed to connect with audiences or critics.
Christywhich has yet to premiere in Spain, performed well below expectations in the US, earning just $1.3 million in its opening weekend.
For a film debuting in over 2,000 theaters nationwide, this marks a significant box office disappointment and the lowest opening of Sweeney’s career to date.
Despite the financial outcome, Sweeney remains proud of the project and its message. She expressed her gratitude and the deeper purpose behind the biographical drama via Instagram.
“Thank you to everyone who watched, felt and believed in this story for so many years,” she wrote.
“If Christy gave just one woman the courage to take the first step towards safety, then we succeeded. So yes, I’m proud of it. Why? Because we don’t always make art just for the numbers, we do it to make an impact. And Christy has been the most impactful project of my life. Thank you, Christy. I love you.”
