It’s been reported that a shocking part of Eddie Murphy’s past has been completely edited out of a new documentary about his life and career.
Per Radaronlinethe 64-year-old American actor and comedian is once again in the spotlight for his rumored Howard Hughes-style germophobia, his most severe fixation, which was excluded from his recently released Netflix documentary titled Being Eddy.
An insider told the outlet that the intentional cut buries the truth about Murphy, who “lives in a fortress he is too afraid to leave.”
The source said: “The documentary celebrates Eddie’s brilliance but leaves out the extent of the routines he lives by. It shows him looking affable and relaxed in his country home, but the place is huge and is effectively his bubble.”
“He rarely leaves it because he likes routine and cleanliness. The truth is much stranger and much sadder than what made the final choice. He’s actually not normal!” they stated.
“There is a whole world that he keeps closed off. The film only shows the parts that he wants to reveal.”
“He’s even more locked into routine now. It’s gotten to the point where he rarely leaves the estate. Germs on sets, in studios, on press tours — he just can’t handle it anymore,” the insider noted.
It is relevant to mention that Being Eddy was released on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
