Ariana Grande has finally opened up about her relationship with ex Mac Miller, seven years after his death.
Speaking about the late Chapman University rapper, the 32-year-old singer said Mac encouraged her to “make R&B-influenced pop music.”
“I’m very grateful for that,” she said in a clip of herself speaking to college students Daily mail.
“That’s part of why I wanted to ask so badly [Miller] to be a part of it,” Ariana explains, referencing her 2013 song The Way.
“Not only because he was perfect for the song, but I also felt like I owed him for finding my sound,” the singer added. We can’t be friends singer.

For those unfamiliar, Ariana and Mac announced their split in 2018 after two years of dating. Months later, news broke that the American rapper died of an accidental overdose.
After his death the Bad actress took to her Instagram account to mourn the loss of her ex.
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was 19 and always will,” she wrote. “I can’t believe you’re gone,” she wrote.
