Sinnersa horror film, proves to be a hit, starring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers set in Mississippi in 1931. Now Ryan Coogler, the director behind it, is shedding light on the vampire film.
“Every day was different. Every scene was different,” he says Entertainment weekly on The Awardist podcast, as he discussed directing the actor as an on-screen twin.
“When you watch the movie, there are certain scenes that you would think weren’t difficult,” he continues, nodding to Michael, who was with him in the interview.
“Like…, do you remember the day I almost went crazy – when you guys had to drive the car and go into the bushes?”
Ryan notes, “Making that shot was fucking crazy, because Mike was driving, and we had to pass the car repeatedly as he took off and landed, getting out of the car at the right timing and then interacting with the bush at the right timing.”
The filmmaker, who also directed Black Panther, points out how Smoke and Stack, the twins who played Michael, not only walk differently but also drive differently.
“You see the difference in performance,” he says, referring to the actor, and adds: “But they also have to go into the bushes in a certain way because of the timing.”
Sinners is streaming on HBO Max.
