Lily Collins as Emily Cooper donned several striking outfits in Emily over many seasons Emily in Paris.
But her dresses often came under the scanner of some viewers. Now the designers behind those clothes spoke out.
“I think fashion is political; it carries a message, ideas,” says Marylin Fitoussi Peopleand added: “Clothes say who you are and what you dream about, it is your presentation to the world. I want to have fun with clothes.”
The designer explains that she wanted to convey her vision with her ideas in the show. “Emily in Parisian fashion was my way of expressing my own vision and was meant to fuel your imagination.”
She continues: “I didn’t set out to make fashion or create a trend, I didn’t want to do something cute, politically correct or perfect. I wanted to create something interesting to look at.”
“You should dress to please yourself, to express yourself, your individuality and not to follow a trend. I’m just passionate and I stay true to my vision. The way I mix patterns and fabrics can be disturbing, but what I try to do is provoke new ideas on how pieces can be put together in a different way,” the actress adds.
Marylin notes that she was not bothered by online criticism, saying, “I just focus on what I think is good, different and interesting for the character, regardless of what everyone else thinks.”
Emily in Paris season five is streaming on Netflix.
