Jack Champion on how he avoided being ‘uncomfortable’ on ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ set

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ star Jack Champion shares how he embraced Spider

Avatar: Fire and Ashes actor Jack Champion talks about his character’s minimal clothing.

Champion plays Spider, a human teenager raised by Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri, and their family of Na’vi children. The character who dresses only wears a loincloth as a sign of his Na’vi upbringing.

The actor, who played Spider in both this year Fire and ashes and 2022 The waterway shared his take on his character as a teenager at the film’s premiere on December 1.

“I feel like, for my live-action part, I want to embrace the fact that this guy is mobile,” Champion said People. “He rolls around in the mud. He goes and brushes against the leaves. It was just that. If I embrace it, then it’s not awkward. I just have to go 110%.”

“I mean, I thought, ‘I look pretty good. I might try to work out a little bit,'” he added. “It was interesting to finally see this character that I’d been imagining for so long, on me. And I thought, ‘Okay, this is going to kick things up a notch. This is really going to make me go 110% right now.’ “

Spider’s role takes center stage in Fire and Ash as he is tied up by villain Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who is also his biological father.

Avatar: Fire and Ashes is in theaters now.
