Alexander Gould reflects on how being a child actor shaped his life as he returns to Hollywood.
Gould started working at age 2 and said he spent much of his childhood in the adult work environment. He was later cast as the voice of Nemo after a nearly year-long audition process, although he initially did not realize he had been given the lead role.
The recording lasted three years, followed by heavy promotion, making the experience much more intense than he had expected at a young age.
Released in 2003, Find Nemo became the highest-grossing domestic film of the year and later spawned its 2016 sequel Find Dory.
Gould continued acting after the film and later played Shane Botwin Showtime’s Weedsbefore leaving the industry after the series ended.
Now he returns to the industry. He recently rejoined social media and plans to launch a podcast in the new year focused on child acting and life in the entertainment industry.
